Production Overview

Daniel's Husband marked a significant engagement for James Steel Productions, combining executive producing duties with hands-on general management at Marylebone Theatre. The production demanded a commercially astute approach to a piece of serious drama, balancing artistic integrity with the commercial realities of a West End-adjacent venue.

Executive Producing and General Management

The dual role of Executive Producer and General Manager gave James Steel Productions end-to-end oversight of the production. From initial budgeting and capitalisation through to nightly settlements, the company managed every commercial aspect. This included negotiating creative team deals, overseeing Equity contracts, coordinating with the venue on technical and front-of-house requirements, and maintaining financial reporting to producing partners throughout the run.

Marketing and Ticketing Strategy

James Steel Productions designed and implemented the complete marketing and ticketing strategy for Daniel's Husband. This encompassed audience segmentation research, digital campaign management, press and publicity coordination, group sales outreach, and a dynamic pricing model tailored to the Marylebone Theatre's capacity and audience profile. The integrated approach allowed the company to respond quickly to sales data and adjust strategy in real time.

Marylebone Theatre

Marylebone Theatre has carved out a distinctive position in London's theatrical landscape, offering an intimate setting for high-quality drama. Working within this venue required careful calibration of production budgets and marketing spend to match the house's capacity while delivering a premium audience experience. James Steel Productions' familiarity with London's mid-scale venues ensured a smooth operational delivery throughout.
